Just over a year ago, Gehl Flooring began searching for a new building. They found themselves in a space with “good bones” alongside the main freeway system that runs into Milwaukee. This was not any easy feat. Not only did they have to replace the roof, but everything from the electrical to the plumbing had to go as well. However, this extreme renovation provided them with the opportunity to get creative! Gehl Flooring used six different Hallmark Floors hardwood and luxury vinyl products in the new space. Alta Vista, Organic 567, Castle & Cottage, Town & Country, El Dorado and Hermosa Stone were all included. Keep reading to find out how they transformed their new space!
What was your inspiration behind the design of Gehl Flooring?
“When remodeling this old building built in 1969 we utilized products from all of our suppliers throughout the entire building. We wanted to showcase the products capabilities by displaying them in a real world setting. Unsurprisingly, this posed some challenges as the goal was a seamless floor covering surface. This meant no thresholds between the wood, vinyl, rubber and tile which all comes in different thicknesses. We also wanted to have Hallmark’s wood flooring flow into the vinyl as to display the quality of the vinyl images when placed beside real wood. Furthermore, we wanted to create spaces that blended the classic craftsman of wood flooring with modern and contemporary commercial design.
How did you utilize various Hallmark Floors products throughout the space?
“We utilized each one of the six collections to achieve the flooring patterns and look that we envisioned. The colors and textures were picked to create a natural flow as you moved from a space with a traditional layout into one of a more contemporary design. My favorite thing about Hallmark’s flooring is the number of options and varied specs. We installed the floors seamlessly without allowing the space to look overdone. In fact, the wood flows into vinyl so well that most people have trouble picking out the wood from the luxury vinyl.”
What is your favorite Hallmark Floors product?
“Personally, I love the Alta Vista Collection. Previously, fumed White Oak was a product from the past that had become too difficult to get at a reasonable price. Hallmark has put together a look for this collection that is unique and shows off the woods true natural beauty.”
Do you recommend Hallmark Floors?
“I recommend Hallmark Floors for the number of diverse collections available. The collections cover the classic looks of the past as well as meeting the demand of today’s design. Hallmark accomplished this in both wood and vinyl with a quality in their specs that provides my company with the confidence to stand behind their products with conviction.”
