FINE BAMBOO FLOORING, PANELS & VENEER
HIGH QUALITY BAMBOO BUILDING MATERIALS
Teragren is a company that specializes in manufacturing high-quality bamboo building materials, including flooring, panels, veneers, and countertops. They are known for their commitment to sustainability and superior indoor air quality.
SOME KEY ASPECTS OF TERAGREN BAMBOO
☑ MATERIAL
Teragren primarily uses Optimum 5.5 Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens), which is harvested in the Zhejiang province of China. Moso bamboo is chosen for its dense fibers and strength, making it ideal for construction materials. They harvest the bamboo at maturity (between 5.5 and 6 years) when its fibers are at peak density.
☑ DURABILITY
Teragren products are renowned for their hardness and durability. Their PureForm Traditional bamboo flooring is on average 40% harder than red oak. Their Xcora Strand bamboo flooring, made with a revolutionary hot-press technique, averages 160% harder than red oak, making it suitable for high-traffic residential and commercial settings. Bamboo itself has impressive natural properties, offering greater compressive strength than concrete and a strength-to-weight ratio similar to steel in tension.
☑ SUSTAINABILITY
Teragren emphasizes its eco-friendly practices. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource, maturing in 5-6 years compared to 80+ years for hardwoods. Their products are often “carbon-negative” at the time of manufacture, meaning they sequester more carbon than is emitted during production. They reduce dependence on dwindling timber resources.
☑ INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Teragren is highly committed to healthy indoor environments. All their flooring products are tested and certified to the California 01350 standard for indoor air quality, which is considered one of the most stringent in the world. They are also CARB Phase II compliant, emitting significantly less formaldehyde than allowed. Their panels and veneer are SCS Gold certified for indoor air quality. They use formaldehyde-free or ultra-low-emitting formaldehyde adhesives in their products.
☑ PRODUCT RANGE
Teragren offers a variety of bamboo products for different applications. Flooring: Available in various styles, colors, and constructions (solid, engineered, hand-scraped, floating) to suit different design preferences and installation needs. Panels and Veneers: Ideal for cabinetry, wall treatments, furniture, and other interior decor.
☑ COUNTERTOPS AND TABLETOPS
Manufactured to industry-leading standards for quality and environmental safety, suitable for kitchens, dining areas, and other work surfaces. In essence, Teragren bamboo represents a high-quality, durable, and environmentally responsible choice for building materials, offering an alternative to traditional hardwoods with strong sustainability and indoor air quality credentials.

ADVANTAGES OF BAMBOO FLOORING
☑ SUSTAINABILITY
This is often the biggest selling point. Bamboo is a grass that grows incredibly fast (maturing in 3-5 years, compared to decades for hardwoods). It regenerates from its root system after harvesting, meaning it doesn’t require replanting and puts less strain on forest resources. It’s considered a highly renewable and eco-friendly material.
☑ DURABILITY
High-quality bamboo flooring, particularly strand-woven bamboo, is exceptionally durable and hard. It can be significantly harder than many traditional hardwoods (like red oak), making it a good option for high-traffic areas in homes and even some commercial spaces. The hardness is often measured by the Janka scale, and strand-woven bamboo can achieve very high scores.
☑ AESTHETICS
Bamboo flooring offers a clean, contemporary, and often minimalist look. It comes in various shades, from light natural tones to carbonized (darker) options, and can also be stained. The distinct grain patterns (often showing “knuckles” in horizontal or vertical constructions, or a more linear look in strand-woven) add a unique touch.
SOME BAMBOO FLOORING BY TERAGREN
☑ PEST RESISTANCE
Bamboo naturally possesses some resistance to pests like termites.
☑ HYPOALLERGENIC AND GOOD INDOOR AIR QUALITY
High-quality bamboo flooring is often a good choice for allergy sufferers. It’s naturally resistant to dust mites and mold, and many reputable manufacturers produce bamboo flooring with very low (or even zero) VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions, contributing to healthier indoor air. Look for certifications like California 01350, FloorScore, or European E1/E0 standards.
☑ VERSATILITY
Bamboo flooring can be installed in most rooms of a house, and some types (especially engineered bamboo) can even be used with underfloor heating.
Flooring designs featuring bamboo evoke the feeling of natural warmth, contentment and comfort.
DISADVANTAGES OF BAMBOO FLOORING
☓ MOISTURE SENSITIVITY
While more moisture-resistant than some hardwoods, bamboo is still a natural material and is susceptible to water damage. Standing water, excessive humidity, or very dry environments can cause swelling, warping, shrinking, or cracking. It’s generally not recommended for bathrooms or basements prone to flooding.
☓ SCRATCH ABD DENT SUSCEPTIBILITY
Despite its hardness, bamboo can still scratch and dent, especially from sharp objects, pet nails, or dragging heavy furniture. Using felt pads on furniture and area rugs in high-traffic zones can help protect the floor.
☓ QUALITY VARIABILITY
The quality of bamboo flooring can vary significantly between manufacturers. Cheaper products may use younger, softer bamboo or contain higher levels of formaldehyde in their adhesives, which can impact durability and indoor air quality. It’s crucial to choose a reputable brand that provides certifications for hardness and low VOC emissions.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
As an eco-friendly resource, bamboo is gaining increasing popularity. It’s a rapidly growing grass, reaching full maturity in just a quarter of the time it takes for traditional hardwood trees. This sustainable growth, combined with the exceptional density and hardness of our top-quality bamboo, makes Teragren floors an incredibly durable, structurally stable, and tough flooring solution.
Teragren
For our Teragren products, we exclusively use Teragren Optimum 5.5 Moso bamboo, cultivated in China’s Zhejiang province. With over 1,500 bamboo species in existence, Moso (Phyllostachys pubescens) stands out as one of the hardest. Its dense fibers yield robust timber, perfect for crafting beautiful and durable bamboo flooring, panels, and veneer.
Bamboo is a remarkable material, boasting greater compressive strength than concrete and a strength-to-weight ratio comparable to steel in tension. However, it doesn’t achieve these impressive characteristics overnight. To become the high-performance construction material we value, it must be harvested at precisely the right time: between 5 and 6 years of maturity.

The Foundation of a Beautiful Life: Teragren Bamboo Flooring
A short story
A young couple, Sarah and Tom, are in their living room, looking a little overwhelmed by renovation choices. They want something beautiful, durable, and sustainable.
Sarah and Tom were building their dream home, piece by painstaking piece. They envisioned a space that was not only stunning but also a reflection of their values – a place where memories would be made, children would play, and laughter would echo for years to come. But as they looked at the dizzying array of flooring options, a question lingered: could they truly have it all? Beauty, durability, and a commitment to the planet?
That’s when they discovered Teragren Bamboo Flooring.
After a few months, Sarah and Tom are now seen walking barefoot on a beautiful bamboo floor, smiling contentedly.
Sarah (beaming): We were initially drawn to the sheer beauty of it. The way the light catches the grain, the warmth it brings to the room… it’s just breathtaking. And the range of colors, from those rich caramels to the lighter, contemporary tones, meant we could find the perfect fit for our style.
Tom (nodding): For us, the durability was a huge factor. With our active lifestyle and knowing we’d have kids someday, we needed a floor that could stand up to anything. We heard stories about other floors scratching easily, but Teragren? It’s incredibly tough. We’ve had a few spills, a dropped toy or two, and you wouldn’t even know it. It’s built to last.
And it’s not just durable. It’s sustainable.
Sarah: Knowing that our flooring choice contributes to a healthier planet gives us such peace of mind. Teragren uses a rapidly renewable resource, and their manufacturing process is incredibly thoughtful about minimizing environmental impact. It feels good to make a choice that aligns with our values.
Tom: And the air quality! We were really concerned about volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and chemicals in our home. Teragren’s low-VOC finishes meant we could breathe easy, knowing our family was safe. It’s not just about what you see, but what you don’t see that matters.
Today it’s a common sight to see Sarah and Tom relaxing in their living room, looking genuinely happy.
But beyond the beauty, the strength, and the sustainability, there’s something more profound that Teragren offers. It’s the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ve made a smart, responsible investment in your home and your family’s well-being.
Sarah: Our Teragren floor isn’t just a surface we walk on. It’s the foundation for our everyday lives. It’s where we entertain friends, where we’ll watch our children grow, and where countless precious memories will be made.
Tom: It’s more than just flooring; it’s an investment in our future. We couldn’t be happier with our decision.
