It has been said that interior design is making the best possible use of the available space. This quote couldn’t be truer for Architect and Interior Designer, Michelle Anaya, who took on the challenge of remodeling what would turn out to become a breathtaking Pacific Palisades home.
Michelle was hired mid-project by a developer to complete an existing design, but with the revelation of faulty interior aesthetics, Michelle’s priority quickly became to make major modifications. Michelle determined that if she was going to be part of an “in-progress” project, the original plans needed a major overhaul. “I work in such great design detail,” added Michelle, “That is what makes my work successful. I focus on the small things that others may not notice.” And although much time, effort, and resources were already allocated, the developer agreed that in order to achieve the perfect outcome, drastic changes to the space needed to be made. “The project was a complete remodel that lasted five years. It consisted of reconfiguring rooms and changing walls. The entire project was quite extensive,” added Michelle.
The vision of the interior design was especially influenced by the outdoors. The home, which sits on a hilltop, also features large windows with spectacular views. Bright blue skies, the Pacific Ocean, and some of the world’s lushest hillsides are just a few of the components boasted by this home. One of Michelle’s goals was to restore the design by maximizing the relationship between the indoors and the outdoors so that nothing interrupted its natural flow.
The flooring selection was a major component towards achieving this goal. Michelle utilized Hallmark Floors’ Alta Vista – Del Mar floors that span the breadth of the interior. According to Michelle, “The color of the floor was the perfect selection to compliment the home’s natural landscape with the interior. I needed a floor that would compliment these natural colors… I didn’t want to compete with the sky, the greenery, and the ocean. The floors came out amazing!”
Five rigorous years of planning, detailed designing, and extensive renovating resulted in a stunning outcome. The developer’s response to the completed project: literally breath-taken! “I felt such a wonderful sense of accomplishment because it turned out so well. It was a lot of work but it was absolutely worth it,” concluded Michelle! For Hallmark Floors, another successful design featuring Alta Vista – Del Mar floors.
“I looked for classic, modern, white cabinets for great contrast with the floors.” -Michelle Anaya
