These days, when most of us see a space with hardwood flooring, we see it as a sign of luxury and carefully planned interior design. Essentially, hardwood floors were seen as a sign of poverty in the sense that the home owners were considered to not have the money to carpet their homes. This was the viewpoint during the medieval times, and even into the 1800s. In fact, it was not really until relatively recently in the 1900s that hardwood flooring was perceived to be a thing or luxury and that could be really used to improve the overall look of a home on the interior. But even when it first began to be used in homes as a thing of luxury, there was a lot of misunderstanding when it came to properly insulating homes with these kinds of floors.
As a result, carpet once again became the flooring of choice for quite some time, until there began to be a better understanding and knowledge of how to properly insulate with these floors. Now, hardwood floors are more popular than ever. There are seemingly endless possibilities when it comes to the different styles, types of wood, finishes and colors in hardwood floors. Today, hardwood floors are commonly used as a way to make just about any room look amazing, while offering durable and sturdy floors at the very same time.
